The problem is not privacy,
but innovation.

With Solid, we aim to
redefine the relationship
between people, their data,
and the apps they use.

Solid is about choice.

The Solid ecosystem enables
people to pick apps they need,
storing data where they want.

People control their data,
and share it with the apps
and people they choose.

Every piece of data a person produces
goes into their personal knowledge graph.

They can grant apps and people access
to specific parts of their knowledge graph.

Separating apps from graphs
drives independent innovation.

Solid is not a company or organisation.
Solid is not (just) software.

Anyone can build or host
software for Solid.

The Solid server acts as a data pod
that guards your knowledge graph.

A personal knowledge graph can contain
any data you create or need online.

Solid clients are browser or native apps
that read from or write to your graph.

Any app you can envision,
you can build with Solid.

The Solid server and several apps exist
and are usable for developers.

Decentralized graphs are more complex.
We need new technologies to cope.

We know how to handle
a very small number of
large knowledge graphs.

The future consists of
a very large number of
small knowledge graphs.
